Stay At

Privileged Location

Located in the heart of Old Delhi (it’s a three minute walk from here to Gate No.3 of Jama Masjid, where clients usually enter the mosque) you will be forgiven for assuming that the surroundings must be loud and chaotic! But it is not. The Haveli is located in a peaceful residential area called Dharampura, hence its name. Barring a few daily need-shops the pedestrian lane in front of the Haveli is clean and free from chaos. Morning departures on Shatabdi train for onward destinations like Agra and Jaipur promise to be less taxing from here as the New Delhi Railway station is just 15 minutes from here.

The Haveli is perfect for clients who want to explore the city on foot. The lanes and by-lanes of Chandni Chowk are sure to keep them busy. Even after a full day of sightseeing, stepping out at night is equally exciting with life buzzing and aromas especially around Gate No 1 of Jama Masjid which becomes the food hub at night.

Note: Arriving at the hotel requires a five minute walk from where the car drops you. Although, this is not an ideal scenario, clients are not inconvenienced as the approach lane is clean and traffic free. The hotel also sends staff to carry the clients luggage in.

WHAT I’M WORRIED ABOUT

Standalone Restaurant or More?

Since its soft opening on March 1, 2016 its beautiful restaurant (Lakhori) has been buzzing with activity. For the moment the management is content focusing just on F&B. All their promotions and activities are targeted around dining. Hopefully things will change as soon as they recruit additional staff and become fully functional.

Attention to Detail

Although the rooms are nice, attention to detail seems to be missing. The staff employed at the hotel are from restaurant/pub background and lack training in hospitality. Morning tea went missing; trays were not cleared after room service. Somehow, I get the feeling that after taking almost 6 years to restore the Haveli they were in a hurry to open for business. At the moment, I would not be too confident with my clients staying here, say in the event that they need to get a wake-up call and tea for an early morning departure to the railway station.

IN CONCLUSION

Even with niggling concerns, Haveli Dharampura has a lot of potential and deserves a second look once the management irons out the minor issues.
