Jalakara - A boutique hotel at Havelock
“With hordes of natural light, high roofs, a private outdoor seating area and spacious bathrooms, the rooms and suites are minimalistic yet tastefully decorated which give it a cozy feel. Each of the living spaces has a unique concept, sometimes it can be hard to choose which one to stay in. For those on their honeymoon, without doubt, I would suggest the Private Villa or the Garden Suite, they are just perfect.” Says Tejashri who recently stayed at Jalakara for a night. With the fact that they have only 7 living spaces, it sometimes feels like you have the entire place to yourself, not just the room. It is only at dinner or when at the pantry that you may be lucky to run into your neighbor or other guests. The menu though limited is a treat for the senses. The remarkable flavors of the tropical abundance is mixed with the exotic sea food, this amalgamation with multiple influences is beautifully brought together by the in-house chef, Sai. Sai who comes with a wide array of experience ranging from restaurants in Manhattan to Goa, prepares a meal which tingles the taste buds and caters to all palate types. She would be happy to host a cooking class on all days (except Wednesdays when she takes off) at the common pantry. “It’s not just the cooking class I would advise one to indulge in when here, try star gazing, in-house movie experience or make your way to the inviting semi-open spa for a massage, everything is done with taste and ease.”, adds Tejashri.
A sublime combination of the tropics, the sun drenched palms and plush boho style finishings, Jalakara easily makes for THE address to be in when in Havelock. A minimum of 3 nights stay is mandatory to soak in the Jalakara experience and hence, the policy aptly put in place by the management. For those looking for an uber luxurious and quaint setting to spend their days, rest assured a stay here will be all that and more.
