FROM THE MD's DESK
Hello!
Dear Travel Professional,
We returned from a great show at ITB, Berlin this week. It was a very productive show, thanks to all our industry friends who took out time to meet us there.
It is always a moment of pride to be recognised for our contribution as a member of the travel industry, I thank PATWA for giving me the International Award for the Best Professional – Travel Trade during ITB.
The Annual Art of Travel brochure was launched during the show, do write to us for a copy.
Holi was celebrated at our office at the beginning of the month, read all about it in our Perfect Moments section. Not only that, it was also a time to celebrate the women at work during International Women’s Day which was centred around a panel discussion, some Zumba and healthy bites for all our female colleagues.
Do you fancy a trip to India anytime of the year, do follow our #indiain365days posts on for the highlights and much more.
On the anvil is the Great Indian Travel Bazaar in Jaipur next month, I look forward to seeing you there.
Regards
Dipak Deva
Managing Director
STAY AT
Bungalow on the beach -
A chapter from the pages of history
By Tejashri Simha, Explorer-in-Residence, Destination Knowledge Centre
For a while now my heart was set on visiting Tharangambadi (Tranquebar) - land of the singing waves, a historic town granted to the Danes by the Rajah of Tanjore for an annual tribute in the year 1620. My fascination with it was for a simple reason, it is the only place in south India (not including the island of Nicobar which is now off limits) which was once under the reign of the Danes.
STORIES FROM THE ROAD
Chettinadu - Of mansions and tiles
By Tejashri Simha, Explorer-in-Residence, Destination Knowledge Centre
The story of Chettinadu is closely associated with shrewd merchants called Chettiars who once upon a time ruled over half of Burma. Although there are many theories surrounding their history, it is believed that they have been around since the times of the Cholas in 2nd century AD.

PERFECT MOMENTS
Holi Celebrations
The festival of colours, Holi was celebrated at our office at the beginning of this month.
We celebrated by dancing to the beat of drums, threw coloured powder at our friends and enjoyed traditional Holi snacks such as the Gujiya (a sweet fried dumpling). Next year, do come and celebrate this festival with us to experience it first-hand.
