The Bamboo Safari Forest Lodge, Tadoba National Park
The Chalets - are the base category situated on the first floor which the ground floor rooms are the Garden Villas. The Lake Villas - are on the ground floor, whereas the lone Presidential Villa is situated at the very end of the property. The comfort is of a high level, with modern bathrooms and all facilities combined with wooden furniture and wooden high-ceiling which gives a warm and cosy atmosphere. The beds with canopies are very comfortable.
The difference is not much between these three categories, apart from the size which is slightly smaller for the Chalet, though it offers an advantage - a nice overview of the property from the balconies. The Villas have large bedrooms, in-suite washrooms along with a patio offering either a garden view or a lake view. The Villas are bigger in size but the comfort and amenities are same. As far as the main areas are concerned, I loved the roaring wooden lion which is in the middle of the lobby. The library has books on Tigers and other mammals. You easily imagine yourself reading one of these books comfortably seated on a sofa drinking tea whilst waiting for your evening safari!
Comfort and eye for detail apart, what makes the property a winner is the food. Physical comfort is useless without the comfort of the stomach. I don’t remember who said this (probably nobody) but this is true! The food served here in the indoor restaurant, elegantly furnished and beautifully decorated is absolutely awesome! The organic vegetables and fruits are sourced directly from their own gardens. The result is refined and tasty food which is a perfect end to your day. The Chef is always there during dinner or lunch for feedback.
The team comprises of managers, naturalists, chefs and therapists who are all extremely welcoming, professional, discreet and paying attention to your needs. One of them for instance, is the good night card placed on the bed which announces the forecast of the next day, very helpful.
Activities: Apart from the Jeep Safaris, one can enjoy guided nature walks into the woods. Star gazing sessions are also organised. Birders can go bird-watching by the lake guided by one of the in-house naturalists. The water side deck and tower is perfect to be one with nature and to spend hours watching the dances of the several different species of birds. For those interested, a tour to the tribal areas can be arranged to know more about their way of living, art and craft.
Making an impact: The owner of The Bamboo Safari Forest Lodge and his team are actively involved in making a positive impact on the environment and the wildlife population of the region. Their efforts towards ecological conservation and community are seen in many concrete actions. For example - they use India’s first battery-operated luxury safari vehicle named the Eco Ranger.
Safaris: Morning and evening safaris are conducted in specially designed jeeps. 3 of them are modified 8-seater Scorpio jeeps, 2 of them being the first eco-friendly battery jeep used in India called Eco-Ranger. They are extremely comfortable and well-equipped with an overhead shade.
