Spend a day at the facility that is actively trying to rekindle an interest of the locals in making Channapatna toys where you will learn that its uniqueness has helped earn its global popularity so much so that it has found its way to the residence of the former President of the USA - Barak Obama. Your host will take you through the complete toy manufacturing process at the artisan work facility along with an introduction to the history of the craft, its uniqueness and special features. While all the toys are made using machines, you will also get to visit a nearby village where lacware craft is practiced on hand driven lathes in its original form. End the tour back at the facility where you will try your hands at creating a souvenir for yourself under the watchful eyes of a master artisan. You could also take home some souvenirs from the gift shop available on the premises. The facility is open from Monday to Saturday between 1030 am to 6 pm and closed on Sundays and all public holidays.
