Brewlicious - Coffee Tasting At Kanchigar Estate
In this tasting session you will get to learn and see how each brewing method affects the flavor profile of the resultant brew. Nivedita uses fresh, 100% home roasted Arabica beans from the estate to demonstrate the following brew techniques:
- South Indian Filter
- Syphon Brew apparatus
- French Press
- V60 Dripper
- Moka Pot
- Aeropress
- Village Style Jaggery Coffee
While using different grinds, coarse and fine ground, for each of the brews she exacts the various factors that create the decoction used to make coffee. You begin to see how these different brews turn out as a result of varying amount of heat, pressure and filtration. After each brewing demonstration the resultant brew is served to you. This experience encompasses not just hot brews but cold brews as well! Nibbles are placed on a table as palate cleansers so you can try and figure out the differences in each of the brews.
This session lasts for about an hour and can go beyond depending on your interest. A maximum of 10-12 people can be accommodated for this session. For groups I would recommend creating a half day experience at Kanchigar Estate which can include a plantation walk with a planter followed by lunch and ending in the coffee tasting session.
To sum it up, this is a unique and fantastic experience to understand a little bit about how one type of coffee bean can have so many avatars. Needless to say that you will be left with a mild caffeine buzz at the end of the session! Sophisticated and engaging - the entire experience will make you a coffee perfectionist.
