FROM OUR FOOD GUIDE
After 16 years in business, Chef Bawmra Jap decided to move Bomra’s to a new location in Goa. Maintaining its distinctly unpretentious vibe, this casual open-air restaurant, now located in Anjuna, is elegant and minimal. A garden to grow ingredients for the kitchen is taking root at a visible distance from diners. On the menu, signature dishes like their tomato salad and crackling pork and pomelo salad remain exclusive. Some additions to the menu are tiger prawn ceviche with celery and lemongrass, aromatic mutton curry with peanuts and cinnamon and a chicken shiitake dish that is marinated in herbs and cooked on the fire in a banana leaf. The drink menu highlights several Bomra’s specials like Mandalay Mango, Rum and Kokam and Tamarind Dukshiri. Do not forget to book your table in advance!!
The newest addition is their Sunday special menu serving Khow Suey lunches along with other traditional dishes and cocktails. Khow Suey is a noodle soup made of egg noodles and curried beef or chicken with coconut milk, served with a variety of contrasting condiments. It came to the Eastern part of India with Indians who migrated from Burma during World War II. The Memon community of the Indian subcontinent also adapted this dish, likely coinciding with the emigration of South Asians from Burma in the 1960s, and is now a representative Memon dish now known as Khausa.
Bomra’s has been awarded the Number 6 Restaurant in India by Condé Nast Traveller and Himalayan Sparkling Top Restaurant Awards 2019.
